A bit of a mixed bag was the month of August, and I could really go overboard and complain about this and that, but what’s the point? As internet marketers, we all go through very similar ups and downs time and time again. And certainly for me, the month of August has been very much one of ups and downs!

My main “issue” has been eBay. The month started off really well and then went kinda dry mid month. That’s very normal. But the thing is it never really picked up at the end, which is totally unusual. Let’s get down to the stats and my tales of woe :-)

I’ll use the same format as last month, and I shall use the same US dollar to UK pound exchange rate as previously (my AdSense and eBay is worked in pounds sterling), to give the stats some parity. That is £1 = $1.58 US. Its actually gone done a little but not enough have much over-all affect.

Here we go with another update on my internet marketing experiment. There’s nothing new about the process at this point, so if you are new here you should probably read my other updates if you want to know exactly what I do on a daily basis.

.

I finally dumped my website about solar panels. My friend will probably continue to work on it but I decided to concentrate exclusively on the websites that I care about.

One of those websites, ruby regex is also making me some sales. To be honest with you I built that website more than one year ago, but after starting this experiment I decided to put an ad and rank it on google, and I think it was definitely a good idea. My market samurai page is also making some sales every once in a while, which is nice considering the high commission.

.

One thing that I’m going to try from now on is to be active on social media websites and try to brand those websites. This is something that is only possible to do if you care about what you’re selling, and I definitely do.

Are .info Domain Names any Good for Ranking?

by Joseph on August 26, 2010

Jong's Crocodile Farm, Sarawak, Malaysia

This is me on a bad day!

You may, or may not  remember my little experiment thing I was going to carry out with regards to ranking for my own name. That was about 5 weeks ago now. Well, I checked the rankings for “Joseph Archibald” in Scroogle Scraper and voila! its now sitting in second place. And top is once again my ezinearticles account.

.

What did I do to achieve this second place ranking?

Erm, not much. I added in about 10 links in all and did some on-page SEO stuff, and that’s it. It was ranking at 72nd position about 5 weeks ago. Then a week later it went up to around 40th. And I’ve been checking it on and off and seemed to be sticking around about 30 – 34th position in Google. But here we are, finally up to 2nd position.

.

What does this tell you?

SnowBall - my new IM employee

My new internet marketing employee

Its been a while since I posted, but I felt compelled to do so this morning – start of another week and heading fast towards the end of August in 2010 – end of summer for many of us around the globe and the beginning of autumn or fall.

This little creature on the left is the new addition to my family – I called her Snow Ball, for obvious reasons… She’s learning the nuances of working online.

.

I turned on the laptop and went online about 7.30 am thinking that I will be greeted with some decent income news. Its one of the things I check first each morning – particularly with regards to eBay income, as the income stats are updated around 3 – 4am each morning – Malaysian time that is.

Yesterday I saw the largest amount of click throughs on my eBay sites of all time. I’ve been working with eBay for just over a year now, so that’s quite an event – to see the most click through’s “of all time” on your account. And if you read up on this blog much at all, you will know that I rely on my eBay income to make my life to be possible as it is now – no job as such, but relying purely upon my income from internet marketing to provide my day to day living.
